THEME:

This is a fancy dress themed night - I am trying to recreate the ambience of the first New Romantics/New Wave regular night club in London from 1979/1980 - THE BLITZ

The music on the night will span key genres/movements which directly or indirectly influenced THE BLITZ and THE BLITZ KIDS, as well as other miscellaneous.



THE KEYS GENRES INLCUDE THE FOLLOWING:



- PUNK (E.G. SEX PISTOLS, UNDERTONES, THE CLASH, JOY DIVISION, IGGY POP, THE STOOGES, TOYAH WILCOX)



- NEW WAVE (E.G. NEW ORDER, STRANGLERS, BOOMTOWN RATS, THE POLICE, THE KINKS, BLONDIE, THOMPSON TWINS, SMITHS, B52'S, SQUEEZE, ALTERED IMAGES, KIRSTY MCCOLL)



- NEW ROMANTICS (VISAGE, DURAN DURAN, SPANDAU BALLET, SOFT CELL, ABC, ADAM ANT, ULTRAVOX, JAPAN, HEAVEN 17, THE ASSOCIATES, CULTURE CLUB, BOW WOW WOW)



- GOTHIC (E.G. CURE, SISTERS OF MERCY, SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES, THE DAMNED, BAUHAUS, THE CULT)

The key to recreating the ambience of the BLITZ CLUB on the night is that everyone attending dresses in the attire appropriate to GOTH, NEW WAVE, SYNTH/ELECTRO, NEW ROMANTICS or PUNK. As you can appreciate this is essential for the atmosphere to be realistic.

NOTE: YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRESS AS A SPECIFIC CELEBRITY
